WASHINGTON – For the second time this season, freshman
Morgan Smith has been named the BIG EAST Conference Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league late on Wednesday. Smith was the runner-up at the 2023 UNCG Collegiate when she carded a 7-under 209 (71-71-67) on the par-72, 6,020-yard course at the Granderson Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina. Smith helped the Hoyas tie for third place with a 17-over 881 (296-300-285).
MORGAN SMITH (FRESHMAN / WESTFORD, MASSACHUSETTS)
- Smith finished the two-day tournament at 7-under 209 (71-71-67). She tallied three-straight rounds of under-par play.
- It was the second-straight tournament that the freshman was the top finisher for the Hoyas, earning the spot alongside a pair of teammates three weeks ago at Princeton.
- The Westford, Massachusetts native recorded a flawless third round with five birdies and 13 pars in Greensboro.
- Over 54 holes, Smith tallied 16 birdies and 32 pars.
- Smith's 5-under 67 in the third round ties the program best shared by Christina Parsells (2018 Princeton Invitational - 1st Round / 2016 Ron Moore Intercollegiate - 3rrd Round) and Jacquelyn Eleey (2017 Princeton Invitational - 2nd Round). Teammate Georgia Ruffolo also shares this honor as she also tallied a 5-under 67 in the third round.
- Smith's 54-hole total of 209 ties for third in program history.
- This is the second time this season Smith has earned the BIG EAST honor.
- The team's 285 was the second time this season the squad has shot under par along with the first round at the Springdale Golf Club for the Princeton Invitational.

The Hoyas will travel to St Andrews, Scotland for the St Andrews Links Collegiate Presented by TopGolf and World Wide Technology on October 23-25. The event will feature both the men's and women's golf programs from Georgetown, University of North Carolina, University of Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. The event will feature two days of stroke play on the Jubilee Course followed by a day of medal match play on the Old Course at St Andrews.
