WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team has released its 2024 spring schedule, presented by MedStar Health that features five regular season tournaments as well as the 2024 BIG EAST Championships. It's a return to some events that the Hoyas have not competed in since the 2019 season as well as some familiar courses for the Blue & Gray.
ABOUT THE SCHEDULE
- The Hoyas open the spring slate at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge Presented by Northrop Grumman in February. It will be a return to the West Coast and the Palos Verdes Golf Club, where they played a season ago and finished 16th as a team at 57-over 909 (303-304-302). Megan Gormley tied for 55th in the tournament based in her hometown as she went 13-over 226 (75-74-77).
- Georgetown will look to defend its title from the 2023 spring season by competing in the Lady Bison Invitational, hosted by Howard University March 4-5. This year's tournament will be played at the Hawkstone Country Club in Gainesville, Florida. In 2023, the Hoyas won the event at 31-over 895 (299-305-291) and Gormley tied for second place at 4-over 220 (74-72-74) at Baltimore Country Club.
- The Hoyas will have a week off before heading to Charleston, South Carolina for the Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston. It's a return to the event after not being on the schedule since the 2019-20 season when the tournament was canceled because of COVID. When the squad competed in the tournament during the 2018-19 season, they finished 14th and Alexa Popowitz was the top GU finisher as she tied for 57th at 12-over 228 (74-78-76).
- The Blue & Gray will compete in the Golfweek Program Challenge at Caledonia Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina on April 1-3. The last time the Hoyas competed in a Golfweek event was the Golfweek Fall Challenge to open the 2022-23 season, the first collegiate tournament for Angela Lee. She shot a 70 in the opening round on the par-71 course at Caledonia and eventually tied for 37th overall at 8-over 221 (70-75-76).
- Georgetown heads north for its final regular season tournament when they head to Piscataway, New Jersey for the Rutgers Invitational on April 6-7. It will be the final tuneup for the Hoyas before the postseason.
- The squad heads to Callawassie Island for the 2024 BIG EAST Championships on April 20-22. It will be a return to Callawassie for the conference championships that were last scheduled in the South Carolina location for the 2020 championships that were canceled because of COVID. The 2019 championships were held at Callawassie with the Blue & Gray finishing second while Christina Parsells was the top Hoya finisher as she took third at 10-over 226 (79-72-75).
