Jake Hyde Named to Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List

WASHINGTON – The Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) presented by SR Bats announced today the players on its watch list for the 2023 college baseball season. The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country.  The BBNCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.

This year's watch list consists of 51 players representing 19 conferences around the country, including all five power conferences. The list includes 11 seniors, 35 juniors and five sophomores.

Georgetown junior Jake Hyde was named to the prestigious award's watch list today after a stellar sophomore campaign in the Blue & Gray. The Darien, Connecticut native had a fantastic season that saw him set the program record in home runs with 19. Hyde won weekly conference honors four times last season while helping lead Georgetown to their best season in school history.

Hyde was pivotal in the team's growth from the 2021 season to the 2022 season. He appeared in 56 games for GU in 2021 while starting in 55 of those 56. On top of 19 home runs, Hyde batted .354 and had 57 RBIs, 18 doubles and scored a team-high 70 runs.

The Hoyas are set to open their season this weekend in Cary, North Carolina against Presbyterian at the USA Baseball Complex. The three-game series will begin Friday, February 17.
