Hoyas to Face Butler in Weekend Matchup at Hinkle Fieldhouse

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to take on the Butler University Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Hoyas are coming off a 76-68 setback at Seton Hall on Tuesday evening while the Bulldogs are coming off a 62-50 loss at Villanova on Tuesday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Sunday's game with a 6-21 record and a 1-15 mark in BIG EAST play after falling to Seton Hall at Prudential Center on Tuesday night.
  • Primo Spears led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 16 on the evening on six made field goals. Spears chipped in four rebounds and a squad-best five assists.
  • Jay Heath and Bradley Ezewiro were the other two Hoyas to reach double digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Heath added three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Ezewiro chipped in five rebounds and a pair of blocks for the Blue & Gray.
  • Akok Akok and Brandon Murray led the Hoyas on the glass with eight rebounds a piece. Akok added three assists, three blocks, one steal and nine points while Murray chipped in two assists, two steals and four points.
  • Spears' 15.9 ppg leads a trio of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Murray (14.0 ppg) and Heath (12.5 ppg).
  • On the glass, Qudus Wahab leads the team with 7.1 rpg while Akok chips in 6.6 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 5.4 apg, which ranks second in the BIG EAST Conference. Akok's team-leading 2.1 bpg is good for second in the league.
 
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
  • Butler (13-14, 5-11 BE), is coming off a 62-50 loss to Villanova at Finneran Pavilion on Tuesday evening.
  • Sophomore Jayden Taylor, who was awarded BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, scored 20 points. Manny Bates had a near double-double for the Bulldogs with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting and nine rebounds.
  • Butler, averaging 6.7 3FG/game, sunk just five 3-pointers against Villanova and committed 11 turnovers to Nova's seven.
  • Four Bulldogs average double figures with Taylor's 12.8 ppg leading the way followed by Bates (12.0), Siimas Lukosius (11.3) and Chuck Harris (11.3).
  • Bates (5.7 rpg) and Jalen Thomas (4.3 rpg) lead the Bulldogs on the glass, while Lukosius' 2.9 apg paces the offense.
  • Head Coach Thad Matta is in his first season of his second stint at the helm of the Bulldogs. Matta previously served as the Butler Head Coach during the 2000-01 season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Sunday's matchup will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to 2009 with the Bulldogs holding a narrow series lead 11-10.
  • In their last contest earlier this season, the Hoyas fell 80-51 in the District. Akok led the Blue & Gray with 12 points and nine rebounds while also chipping in two assists and two blocks. Murray and Bryson Mozone were the other two Hoyas to reach double figures with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.
