Hoyas Host Richmond to Open Five-Game Homestand

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team returns to the Nation's Capital to host Richmond on Saturday, March 11 at noon. The 20th-ranked Hoyas are coming off their first win of the 2023 season and embark on a five-game homestand

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas (1-3) picked up their first win of the season with a 13-10 road victory at then-No. 6/5 Princeton over the weekend.
  • Brian Minicus led the Hoyas with three goals and two assists in the win to garner USILA National Team of the Week recognition and a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod. Tucker Dordevic added three goals, including the game-winner, to earn BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week accolades while Declan McDermott also posted a hat trick for the Blue & Gray.
  • In goal, Michael Scharfenberger made his first start of the season between the pipes and collected a career-high 15 saves to go with a .600 save percentage to earn BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition as well.
  • Dordevic leads the Hoyas with 12 goals and an assist on the season for 13 points while Minicus is right behind him with 11 points (6G, 5A) and Graham Bundy Jr. has eight goals and two assists for 10 points.
  • McDermott and Jacob Kelly both have six points on the year while Patrick Crogan and Nicky Solomon both add four each.
  • James Reilly has taken all but five faceoffs so far this season and has won 52-of-98 (.530) while collecting 34 ground balls.
  • Defensively, Will Bowen has been credited with six caused turnovers, Wallace Halpert has five and Will Tominovich have each been credited with four this year.
Scouting Richmond
  • The Spiders are 4-2 on the year and are receiving votes in the most recent USILA Coaches Poll. Their two losses are to then-No. 2 Maryland and top-ranked Virginia.
  • Richmond is coming off an 11-6 win over Mercer in midweek action on Tuesday.
  • Dalton Young leads the Spiders with 22 points (9G, 13A) while Luke Grayum is right behind him with 20 points (9G, 11A). Lance Madonna is the top goal scorer with 11 to go with five assists for 16 points and Aidan O'Neil rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11 points (7G, 4A).
  • Richmond's main faceoff specialist, Jared Chenoy, is 67-130 (.515) on the season with 31 ground balls.
  • On the defensive end, Jake Saunders has been credited with 12 caused turnovers and adds 19 ground balls.
  • In goal, Zach Vigue has started all six games with a 10.69 GAA and a .472 save percentage. He has collected 51 saves on the year.
Series History
  • The Hoyas and Spiders have played four times since 1980 but only once since Richmond reestablished its varsity program in 2014.
  • Georgetown has won all four games, including a 15-10 victory in Richmond last season. Bundy led the Hoyas with five goals and an assist in the game while McDermott also posted a hat trick.
