WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host Coppin State on Wednesday, March 15 for a midweek matchup. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- GU had a productive week going 4-1 with wins against George Mason (18-3), Navy (7-1) and Hartford (6-3, 10-0).
- Four Hoyas hit above .300 last week and accounted for five home runs. Zaid Walker (.667), Austin Kretzschmar (.375/1 HR), Michael Eze (.360/2 HR) and Jake Hyde (.320/2 HR).
- Kretzschmar recorded six hits in 16 plate appearances but also earned five walks this week while knocking in five RBIs. Hyde chipped in nine RBIs, Eze had six RBIs and Walker had three RBIs, respectively.
- Jake Bloss dominated on Sunday for GU going eight innings allowing one hit and punching out 11. Bloss earned his second BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week award after previously winning after a similar outing against Iona that saw him go seven innings and punch out 10.
- Cody Jensen went 2-0 on the mound this week picking up wins against George Mason and Hartford. Jensen recorded a 1.12 ERA and struck out eight batters in eight total innings of work.
- Kai Leckszas made his first-collegiate start against Navy last week going 4.2 innings and allowing three hits while striking out two.
- GU is 38-4 all-time against Coppin State winning the last contest 17-11 at Shirley Povich Field.
ABOUT COPPIN STATE
- Coppin State is 3-12 this season after sweeping Saint Peter's in their opening weekend series. CSU dropped three games to then No. 19 Oregon State, one game to Mount St. Mary's and Navy. CSU was also swept by VMI and Wagner while dropping a midweek to Lehigh as well.
- Jordan Hamberg leads CSU at the plate with a .367 average. Hamberg leads the team in RBIs (18), home runs (3), triples (3), doubles (5), and hits (18). Hamberg has also pitched 17 innings this season, recording a team best 20 strikeouts.
- Liam McCallum leads CSU on the mound with 21 innings pitched this season. McCallum has an ERA of 5.57 and 18 strikeouts on the season to go with his 1-3 record.
- Head coach Sherman Reed is in his third season at the helm of CSU. Reed won the MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Coach in 2022.
