WASHINGTON – The Georgetown track & field program competed at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State University, with the women getting in the groove of the season and a small contingent of men opening the outdoor campaign. The three-day meet was held at the Paul Derr Track in Raleigh, North Carolina.
ON THE RECORD
"Very competitive performances here at the Raleigh Relays - highlighted by a pair of top 10 times in the GU record books by
Andrea Claeson and
Chloe Scrimgeour with the fifth and sixth best in GU history. Our women's 4x400m quartet also had an impressive showing to close out the weekend with a third-place finish in what was the fastest we've run as a team in a long time. In the field
Eni Akinniyi had a respectable showing in the triple jump and she currently has 29th in the east region.
"Our men were just getting things going so it was a season opener for a small group.
Joshua Paige was ninth overall in the 100m field and freshman Nick Givan's outdoor debut in the 400mH was 10th at the meet. The 4x400m men's squad closed out the meet for the Hoyas, placing ninth.
"We're looking forward to having a small contingent competing at the Florida Relays & Colonial Relays next weekend."
