WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host the Butler Bulldogs in a three-game series this weekend. Saturday, May 6 will be Senior day as we honor our graduating student-athletes. First pitch for game one on Friday, May 5 is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. This weekend's contests will also be streamed for free on YouTube.
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The Hoyas are currently 24-21 after dropping a midweek contest to Towson on Wednesday afternoon.
- Ubaldo Lopez and Jake Hyde lead the Hoyas at the plate, slashing .350/.480/.713 and .331/.395/.646, respectively. Lopez leads the team in home runs with 15 and Hyde is right behind him with 14 so far this season.
- Jake Bloss dominated once again for the Blue & Gray last weekend as he was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season. Bloss took a no-hitter bid into the seventh and allowed one hit, no runs and struck out 12 in game two. This is Bloss' new season-high in strikeouts, and he held St. John's to a .048 batting average.
- Michael Eze leads the team in stolen bases this season with 15 thus far. Eze's success percentage on stealing is 94 percent on the season.
ABOUT BUTLER
- The Bulldogs come into the weekend with a 9-35 record and a 2-10 conference record. The Bulldogs dropped a mideek contest to Evansville on Wednesday evening 4-1 and were swept by Creighton last weekend.
- Joey Urban and Carter Dorighi lead the Bulldogs at the plate slashing .285/.359/.494 and .285/.359/.360, respectively.
- Urban also leads the team in home runs with six and doubles with 12. Scott Jones rounds out the trio that leads the Bulldogs at the plate with a .276 average on the season.
- On the mound, Cory Bosecker has recorded the most innings on the team with 57.2 this season. Bosecker boasts an ERA of 5.31 and has a record of 0-7 so far this season.
