Hoyas Face UMES and George Washington in Midweek Contests

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday evening in the final home contest of the season for the Hoyas. On Wednesday, the Blue & Gray will travel across town to take on George Washington in an afternoon showdown.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are currently 25-23 after dropping this past weekend's series to the Butler Bulldogs.
  • Ubaldo Lopez leads the Hoyas at the plate slashing .345/.471/.720 this season. Lopes leads the team in home runs with 17 and is now second in program history in career home runs.
  • Jake Bloss is currently top 15 in the country in ERA boasting a 2.25 on the season in 64 innings on the mound. Bloss recorded 12 strikeouts in five innings this past weekend tying his season high from earlier in the year.
  • Jake Hyde has been pivotal for GU as his 38-game on base streak came to an end this past weekend. Hyde is slashing .324/.387/.622 on the season with 14 home runs and 10 doubles thus far.
  • In the all-time series between the two sides, Georgetown leads 16-1. In the last matchup between the two sides, the Hoyas came out victorious by a score of 17-1.
 
ABOUT MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
  • The Hawks enter Tuesday's contest with a record of 16-29 after dropping a weekend series to Fairleigh Dickinson University 2-1.
  • Brantley Cutler leads the Hawks at the plate slashing .351/.411/.560 with seven home runs on the season. Cutler also leads the team in doubles with 12 and RBIs with 45.
  • Evan Nibblett is 7-2 on the mound for Maryland Eastern Shore boasting a 3.46 ERA in 12 appearances.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • George Washington comes into Wednesday's contest with a 18-30 record after dropping a weekend series to St. Louis 2-1.
  • Eddie Micheletti Jr. leads GW at the plate batting .387 on the season. Micheletti Jr. leads the team in hits with 75 and is second on the team in doubles with 16.
  • Michael Kohn is another important piece of the GW offense slashing .322/.417/.575 on the season. Kohn leads the team in home runs with nine.
  • On the mound, Chris Kahler leads GW with an ERA of 3.74. Kahler has a record of 4-3 and has pitched 74.2 innings this season while recording 70 strikeouts.
