WASHINGTON – A standout both on the field and in the classroom, Georgetown University's
Will Bowen was named a College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America) First Team Academic All-American, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. Bowen is just the fourth Hoya men's lacrosse player to earn Academic All-American recognition in program history.
Bowen caps his collegiate résumé with the highest academic accolade possible following a stellar playing career. Leading the Hoyas to their fifth-straight BIG EAST Championship and a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals, he was named a second team All-American by both the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and Inside Lacrosse as well as a third team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. He concluded his collegiate career with 98 career caused turnovers, 22nd most in NCAA Division I history.
A consensus First Team All-American in 2022, Bowen earned the USILA William C. Schmeisser Award as the nation's most outstanding defenseman in his first season with the Hoyas. He was also a USILA First Team All-American, Inside Lacrosse First Team Media All-American and All-ACC performer while playing at North Carolina in 2021.
In the classroom, Bowen graduated from North Carolina in just three years with a degree in business administration before earning his M.S. in finance from Georgetown's prestigious McDonough School of Business. He was a USILA Scholar All-American in 2021 and a back-to-back BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree in his two seasons on the Hilltop.
