Hoya Women’s Golf Continues Season at Princeton Invitational

WASHINGTON – Less than a week after opening the season with a win at the William & Mary Invitational, the Georgetown women's golf team is hitting the road for another tournament. The Hoyas compete in the two-day, three-round Princeton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17. The host Tigers welcome a 12-team field to the Springdale Golf Club where they will play the par-71, 6,109-yard course.
 
FOLLOW THE HOYAS
  • GolfStat will be used to score the two-day tournament with a link to the live scoring available on GUHoyas.com.
  • The tournament will begin on Saturday, September 16 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and 36 holes of golf. The tournament continues on Sunday, September 17 with the final 18 holes with another shotgun start at 9 a.m.
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Hoya Lineup: Megan Gornley, Jiaying "Jasmine" Lai, Georgia Ruffolo, Morgan Smith, Vilda Westh Blanc, Claire Chen (ind.), Angela Lee (ind.)
  • Megan Gormley was the top Hoya finisher at the William & Mary Invitational, tying for second with a three-round total of 4-over 220 (74-75-71). She tallied eight birdies over 54 holes.
  • Playing as an individual, Jiaying Lai carded a 5-over 221 (71-76-74) to finish fourth at the Kingsmill Resort tallying nine birdies over three rounds.
  • Also competing as an individual, Georgia Ruffolo tied for fifth place at 6-over 222 (75-72-75) and managed seven birdies and two eagles over two days.
  • Morgan Smith finished William & Mary at 7-over 223 (75-73-75) to place eighth overall and managed nine birdies over three rounds.
  • Vilda Westh Blanc totaled seven birdies at the William & Mary Invitational to finish ninth with an 8-over 224 (75-75-74).
  • Claire Chen closed the tournament with a two-day score of 13-over 229 (80-73-76), tallying five birdies and closed the third round with 16 pars as she finished tied for 19th overall.
  • Angela Lee went 14-over 230 (76-74-80) in Williamsburg, Virginia, to tie for 26th and managed six total birdies, including three-straight on holes 13, 14 and 15 in the first round.
 
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
  • Princeton Invitational Field: Albany, Boston University, Columbia, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Harvard, Holy Cross, Penn, Princeton, St. John's, Seton Hall
  • Last season, the Hoyas finished tied for third as a squad at the Princeton Invitational, carding a 26-over 878 (302-292-284). The 284 in the third round marked one of two times last season that the squad shot par as a whole.
