"If you had told me before the game, we were going to leave here with one point, I would have been disappointed based on how we've been playing. But road BIG EAST games are always different animals and today was no different. Walking out after that game? I'm really proud of our team for how we managed the game. We faced real adversity having to dig ourselves out of a hole three times, we haven't had to do that much this season. If we want to do anything in the postseason, we need games like this to be prepared. But credit to Villanova and their efficiency. We knew they could score goals, but to have three shots on goal and score on all of them is impressive. We generated a huge number of shots, a huge number of corners and we showed a lot of character today. I'm really proud of the team."Â

How it Happened
- The Hoyas had some early looks as freshman Mitchell Baker's shot was saved by VU keeper Sebastian Cutler DeJesus as GU was searching for the first goal.
- Unfortunately, that goal would come from Villanova as the Wildcats found the back of the net in the 16th minute.
- Georgetown controlled the pace, but every chance was stopped including a late shot from Joe Buck that hit the post as the Hoyas went into the break trailing 1-0.
- In the 50th minute, a ball was lofted to the back post where a Wildcat was waiting. He managed to tap it in to put the 'Cats on top 2-0.
- The Blue & Gray would not go away as freshman defender Tate Lampman scored a minute later. Eric Howard's free kick went to the back post for Maximus Jennings who headed it across the goal and to Lampman for his first-career score.
- A takedown in the box in the 68th minute changed the game as the Blue & Gray was awarded its first penalty kick of the season. Sophomore Matthew Van Horn stepped up and buried it to knot the match at two.
- Villanova would not go away as the ball went into the box in the 68th minute. A shot into the top right corner managed to get past the defense to make it 3-2 in favor of the Wildcats.
- With five minutes remaining in the match, a ball was sent in and got to Van Horn. The sophomore sent the ball across, and found classmate Jack Heaps who connected to tie the game at three which would stand as the final.
Of Note
- Georgetown outshot Villanova, 30-8, and had 10 shots on goal to the Cats' three.
- The Hoyas were awarded 18 corners to VU's two as well.
