WASHINGTON – Following their performance at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in University Park, Pennsylvania this past Friday, eleven runners from the men's and women's cross country squad earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors on Tuesday. Any runner who finished in the top 25 in their meet earned All-Region. This is the second time in the past three seasons that Georgetown has had eleven runners receive this honor.
The Georgetown men and women will both travel to the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisconsin this Saturday. The women earned an automatic bid by placing second in the Mid-Atlantic Region with 58 points. The men finished in third place with a team total of 80 points, which earned them one of the 13 at-large bids.
Women's Cross Country All-Region:
Lucy Jenks – Graduate Student
· Jenks finished fifth overall with a time of 19:45.4 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· This past season, Jenks earned first-team All-BIG EAST honors after finishing fifth at the BIG EAST Championship.
Fiona Max - Graduate Student
· Max finished 21st overall with a time of 20:32.8 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· Prior to Max's All-Region honors, she also made the BIG EAST Second Team finishing 16th with a time of 20:56.2.
Ruth Nerurkar - Graduate Student
· Nerurkar finished 17th overall with a time of 20:24.1 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· Nerurkar rounded out an attack of six Georgetown runners that earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors, finishing 17th with a time of 20:57.2.
Charlotte Tomkinson – Graduate Student
· Tomkinson finished 16th overall with a time 20:22.2 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· In her first year with the Blue & Gray, Tomkinson earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors, finishing 14th.
Chloe Scrimgeour - Senior
· Scrimgeour was the top scorer for GU, finishing third overall with a time of 19:25.5 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· This marks the third time she has received all-region honors. Scrimgeour is a five-time All-American, five-time BIG EAST Champion and a three-time school record holder.
Barrett Justema - Sophomore
· Justema finished 18th overall with a time of 20:27.0 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· Justema received Second Team All-BIG EAST honors two weeks prior, finishing 13th with a time of 20:48.1.
Men's Cross Country All-Region:
James Dunne – Graduate Student
· Dunne led the Hoyas at the Mid-Atlantic Regional, finishing 11th with a time of 29:52.4.
· Dunne earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors, finishing 5th at the BIG EAST championship with a time of 24:01.1.
Abel Teffra – Senior
· Teffra was second among Georgetown runners at the Mid-Atlantic Regional, finishing 12th with a time of 29:53.8.
· This is the second time Teffra has earned All-Region honors. Teffra earned second-team honors in 2023 at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship.
Charlie North – Junior
· North finished 24th overall with a time of 30:01.1 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· This is North's first All-Region selection. He finished 27th at the 2023 Mid-Atlantic Regional with a time of 30:24.5.
Luke Ondracek – Junior
· Ondracek finished 16th overall with a time of 30:20.3 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· Ondracek is a two-time All-BIG EAST honoree, making the Second Team in 2023 & 2024.
Birhanu Harriman – Sophomore
· Harriman finished 16th overall with a time of 30:20.3 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
· Harriman is a two-time All-Region honoree as well as two two-time All BIG EAST honoree. In 2023, Harriman finished 15th at the Mid-Atlantic Regional with a time of 29:50.2.
