Cross Country Travels to Madison for NCAA Championships

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's cross country programs will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championship this Saturday. The No. 9 women enter the meet off of a second-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional. The women also won their fifth consecutive BIG EAST championship on November 1st. The men finished third in the Mid-Atlantic Regional but received one of the 13 at-large bids.

MEET COVERAGE: 
·       The race will be streamed live on ESPNU and the ESPN app.

·       The women will compete at 10:20 a.m. ET and the men will race at 11:00 a.m. ET.

About the No. 9 Georgetown Women
·       The women are tabbed as the No. 9 team nationally in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, finishing second in the Mid-Atlantic Region behind No. 4 West Virginia. 
·       Chloe Scrimgeour led the way at Regionals, finishing second overall with a time of 19:25.5.
·       The women are the reigning BIG EAST champions for the fifth-consecutive year, which stands as the second-longest streak in BIG EAST Cross Country history (Villanova, 1989-94).
·       GU had six runners named to the All-Region Team for their top-25 finish at Regionals: Scrimgeour (2nd), Lucy Jenks (5th), Charlotte Tomkinson (16th), Ruth Nerurkar (17th), Barrett Justema (18th),          Fiona Max (21st)
·       GU runners traveling to Madison: Chloe Gonzalez, Jenks, Justema, Max, Olivia Morganti, Nerurkar, Melissa Riggins, Scrimgeour, Tomkinson

About the No. 25 Georgetown Men
·       The men are tabbed as the No. 25 team in the country after finishing third at the Mid-Atlantic Regional with 80 points.
·       GU was led by James Dunne, who finished 11th at Regionals with a time of 29:52.4. Abel Teffra finished right behind him (12th), with a time of 29:53.8.
·       Five Georgetown runners made the All-Region team: Dunne (11th), Ab. Teffra (12th), Luke Ondracek (16th), Birhanu Harriman (17th), Charlie North (24th).
