Thomas Sorber was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and junior guard
Jayden Epps earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The honors come after a 2-0 week for Georgetown, defeating Mount St. Mary's 79-51 on Wednesday and Saint Francis 82-65 on Saturday at Capital One Arena.
THOMAS SORBER (FRESHMAN / FORWARD/CENTER / 6-10 / 255 / TRENTON, N.J.)
- Sorber averaged 11.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg in a 2-0 week for Georgetown that saw wins over Mount St. Mary's (79-51) and Saint Francis (82-65).
- The big man was an efficient 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the floor over a pair of games. He dished out 3.5 assists, recorded 2.0 steals and blocked 2.0 shots per game fueled by a five-assist effort against the Mount and a three-steal, four-block performance against the Red Flash.
- He recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday.
- The freshman committed just one turnover in the pair of games.
JAYDEN EPPS (JUNIOR / GUARD / 6-2 / 190 / NORFOLK, VA.)
- Epps averaged 21.0 ppg on 41.9% (13-31) shooting, made seven 3-pointers and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe in a 2-0 week for the Hoyas.
- He helped Georgetown to wins over Mount St. Mary's (79-51) and Saint Francis (82-65) as part of the Hoya MTE. He grabbed 5.0 rebounds and dished out 1.5 assists while recording 2.0 steals per game and committing just one turnover in the pair of games.
- He poured in 23 points against Saint Francis on Saturday after he led the team with 19 points against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday.
