Hoyas Picked to Finish Fifth in BIG EAST

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Conference this season after recording its third-consecutive 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. GU also earned a spot in the BIG EAST Championship game for the first time in program history a season ago.
 
Senior Owen Carapellotti, who was tabbed as a second team all-conference selection a season ago, was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Carapellotti was a pivotal part of the Hoyas 2024 campaign, starting 56 games while boasting a .284 batting average. Carapellotti tallied 11 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs and 53 RBIs.
 
Graduate student Kavi Caster earned a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after a sensational first season in the Blue & Gray. Caster slashed .322/.395/.638 a season ago and is poised to be a key part of the Hoya lineup in 2025.
 
Senior Andrew Williams secured a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team after a dominant junior season on the Hilltop. Williams boasted a 2.91 ERA and a 4-3 record in 65 innings of action. The senior tallied 49 strikeouts a season ago and held his opponents to a .248 batting average.
 
The University of Connecticut was picked to finish first after winning the regular season crown a season ago. The Huskies received seven first place votes followed by St. John's with one.
