WASHINGTON – Twenty Georgetown men's and women's indoor track & field student-athletes were named to the All-BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Team on Wednesday afternoon, the conference announced.
The men's and women's programs saw 10 honorees each, with six athletes earning the honor in multiple events totaling 28 overall awards.
The all-conference team honors come after the conclusion of the BIG EAST Indoor Championships this past weekend, and include the top-three finishers from each event.
Georgetown recorded three individual champions and had 19 top-five finishes across both the men's and women's individual events.
ABOUT THE WOMEN
- Maya Drayton was named the high-point performer of the meet after taking podium finishes in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay. Drayton was crowned champion in the 200m with a season-best time of 24.18, and took silver in both the 400m (55.06) and 4x400 relay (3:43.83).
- Melissa Riggins earned All-BIG EAST honors in both the 800m and 4x800m. Riggins broke the championship record with her 2:03.42 finish. She also helped the Hoyas take second place in the 4x800m with a time of 8:44.66.
- Joining Riggins on the podium for the 4x800m were Sierra Dinneen, DeAnna Martin and Chloe Gonzalez, who all earned All-BIG EAST for their efforts.
- Gonzalez earned another nod from her performance in the mile after she took third place with a 4:44.60 finish.
- KC Ashiogwu, Kaira Brown and Rebecca Ochan joined Drayton on the 4x400 podium after the group took silver, all making the All-BIG EAST team.
- Abbie Huey also made the all-conference team after taking silver in the 200m with a 24.32 finish.
- Chloe Scrimgeour rounds out the Hoyas with All-BIG EAST honors after taking silver in the mile with her personal-best time of 4:41.79.
ABOUT THE MEN
- Camden Gilmore, Lucas Guerra, Ryan Mulrooney and Parker Stokes earned All-BIG EAST honors after the Hoyas were crowned BIG EAST champions with a blazing 7:26.90 time in the 4x800 mile.
- Nicholas Givan, Joshua Paige, Tinoda Matsatsa and Tim McInerney took second place in the 4x400 relay with a season-best 3:13.15 finish to secure another eight points for GU, all making the All-BIG EAST squad for their efforts.
- In addition to his 4x400m nod, Paige earned All-BIG EAST honors in the 200m after taking the championship title for the third consecutive year. His 20.90 finish broke the record he set during Friday's preliminary trial, which was itself a record set by Paige in the 2023 championship.
- Stokes and Gilmore also earned the honor in the mile, taking second (4:12.46) and third place (4:02.34), respectively.
- In the 800m, both Matsatsa and Matthew Payamps earned all-conference nods as it took a new meet record in the event to edge out the Hoyas in first as Matsatsa placed second with a time of 1:46.98, while Payamps finished with a season-best 1:47.59 to finish third.
- Peter Herold rounded out the honorees as he leaned at the line for a podium finish of second in the 5000m final with a time of 14:06.01.
