WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program began the Raleigh Relays on Friday at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on the campus of NC State University.
On the first day of the meet, two Hoyas set new personal bests in the women's 100m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Abbie Huey and Piper Rodgers took 16th and 17th, respectively, in the women's 100m. Each took second in their respective heats with a time of 11.89. Huey's time marked a new personal best.
- Jadah Fitzgerald finished in 22nd with an 11.93 finish in the 100m, and Rebecca Ochan took 28th overall with a mark of 12.02. Ochan's time was also a new personal best.
- Joshua Paige took second in his heat and seventh overall in the men's 100m with a 10.43 finish.
- In a field of 50, Mary Hennelly took 12th place in the women's 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:25.41.
- Alexis Emery took 22nd overall in the triple jump with her mark of 11.26m.
- In the women's 100m hurdles, Grace Smiechowski took 36th place in a field of 63 with a time of 14.76.
- Kaira Brown took second in heat two and eighth overall in the women's 400m with a 56.06 finish. She is joined by teammate Maya Drayton, who took third in the heat and 15th overall with a mark of 56.47. Victoria Vidolova also finished 85th overall with a time of 1:02.03.
- In the men's 400m, each Hoya took sixth in their respective heat. In a field of 91 athletes, Jabril El-Amin took 56th with a time of 50.55, while Micah McKenzie took 62nd (50.55) and Matthew Griffin took 72nd (51.43).
- Barrett Justema finished 93rd of 198 in the women's 1500m, finishing in 4:33.14. Alexandra Stout took 185th with a mark of 4:44.72.
- Kelsey Swenson came in 35th in the women's 10k invitational with a time of 34:31.73.
