Hoyas Travel for Bryan Clay and Tom Jones Invitationals

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program will compete in two meets on Saturday, April 13, with the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. 
The Hoyas will compete in four events across the two meets.

  • The Hoyas will first take the track in Gainesville at 2:25 p.m., and in Azusa at 6:40 p.m.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Last weekend, the Hoyas competed at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. 
  • Georgetown topped the field in the men's 1,500m, with Parker Stokes coming in first with a time of 3:43.16. Joining him in second place was Lucas Guerra (3:43.410), while teammates Peter Herold (3:45.34) and Owen Johnson (3.48.23) took third and fourth, respectively. 
  • Stokes' performance, which ranks 30th nationally, earned him BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week honors.
  • The Hoyas also swept the podium in the women's 800m, with Melissa Riggins taking first (2:07.11), Chloe Gonzalez taking second (2:09.63) and Sierra Dinneen taking third (2:13.11).
  • Abel Teffra took second place in the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.64. Ryan Mulrooney joined him on the podium with a 1:51.37 finish for third place. 
  • Camden Gilmore rounded out the Hoyas among the top five of the 800m with 1:52.20 for fifth place.
  • In the men's 400m, Tinoda Matsatsa took third with a 48.88 finish, while teammate Tim McInerney took 16th with a 50.48 time.
  • The Hoyas also competed in the South Florida Invitational last weekend in Tampa, Florida. Joshua Paige took fifth place in the men's 200m, running a blazing 20.76 (+3.7), while Nicholas Givan took eighth place in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 52.91. Abbie Huey also ran 24.08 for eighth place in the women's 200m, recording the best finish by a Hoya in the event since 2014.

TOM JONES MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL SCHEDULE
2:25 PM - Men's 800 (Gabriele Angiono, Tinoda Matsatsa, Tim McInerney, Ryan Mulrooney)
6:40 PM - Men's 4x400 (Gabriele Angiono, Tinoda Matsatsa, Tim McInerney, Ryan Mulrooney)
