WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program competed in two meets on Saturday, April 13, including the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
As Georgetown competed in four events across two meets, several Hoyas set new personal records and recorded nationally-ranked times.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Melissa Riggins took third place in the 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Running a new personal-best of 4:07.96, Riggins now sits atop the current national collegiate rankings.
- Chloe Gonzalez ran 4:20.11 in the 1500m for 69th place in a field of 175.
- In the men's 1500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Abel Teffra took second in his heat and ninth place overall with a new personal-best mark of 3:38.25.
- Camden Gilmore also took third in his heat and 20th overall with 3:40.18 in the 1500m.
- At the Tom Jones Invitational, Tinoda Matsatsa took fourth place overall in the men's 800m, running a blazing 1:47.14 for the best finish by a Hoya in the event in seven years.
- Tim McInerney also set a new personal best in the 800m with a 1:48.65 finish for 14th place overall.
- Gabriele Angiono took 21st place, running 1:49.18, and Ryan Mulrooney took 30th with a personal best of 1:50.09 to round out the Hoyas in the 800m.
OF NOTE
- Riggins's 1500m time tops her own second-best program finish in the event at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational, and is second only to Emily Infeld's 2012 record of 4:07.77
- Matsatsa's time in the 800m currently ranks eighth nationally and is the all-time 10th place Hoya finish in the event.

The Hoyas will return to the track next weekend for another two meets with the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia.
