Hoyas Host George Washington in Midweek Contest

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will square off with the George Washington Revolutionaries on Tuesday, April 23 at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

  • Fans can find a link to live stats for both contests on GUHoyas.com.
  • The Hoyas home games will be broadcasted on muscovision this season. A link to each stream is available on GUHoyas.com and fans can purchase access to the platform here. When looking for the stream fans can search "Capital One Park" and all streams for the season will be available.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
 
  • Georgetown (26-13) is coming off an 0-4 week as the Hoyas dropped a midweek contest to UMBC and dropped all three games of the weekend series to UConn.
  • Christian Ficca leads the Hoyas at the plate slashing .351/.459/.604 on the season. The senior has recorded 54 hits, 12 doubles, nine home runs, 47 RBIs and 25 walks.
  • Josh Rolling has been fantastic for GU slashing .342/.490/.500 on the season. Rolling has tallied 41 hits, 10 doubles, three home runs and 21 RBIs to go with a team-best 34 walks.
  • Cody Bowker was fantastic on the mound for GU this weekend in his first start since returning from injury. The sophomore tossed 4.1 innings allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out a career-high 11 Husky batters.
  • GU currently leads the BIG EAST in double plays with 39 on the season, a mark good for sixth nationally. The Hoyas also lead the conference in doubles with 90 on the season, which ranks 22nd in the nation. GU is second in ERA (4.64), second in hits allowed per nine innings (8.37), first in WHIP (1.44) and second in walks allowed per nine innings (4.59).
  • Owen Carapellotti was named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List last week. The award recognizes the best collegiate catcher across all NCAA Division I institutions. This is the second-consecutive season Carapellotti has been named to the prestigious watch list.
  • Earlier this season, GU defeated GW at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park 8-6 behind multi-hit days from Rolling, Derek Smith and Kavi Caster.
 
 
ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • George Washington (23-16) is coming off a weekend series win over Rhode Island. The Revolutionaries took two out of three against URI by scores of 11-6 and 7-4.
  • Ellis Schwartz leads GW at the plate slashing .386/.482/.529 on the season. Schwartz has recorded 54 hits, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs and 28 RBIs to go with 24 walks.
  • On the mound, Teddy Brennan leads the Revolutionaries with a 3.14 ERA and a 1-2 record in 48.2 innings of action. Brennan has allowed 17 earned runs while striking out 56 on the season.
 
UP NEXT
The Hoyas will be back in action this weekend as Georgetown will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face Creighton in a three-game BIG EAST series. Game one is slated for Friday, April 26 at Charles Schwab Field with first pitch coming at 6 p.m. central time. A link to live stats and a live stream will be available on GUHoyas.com.
