WASHINGTON - Georgetown lightweight rowing competed at the Fosburgh Cup on Saturday, April 20 in Princeton, New Jersey on Lake Carnegie and at the Forster Cup on Sunday, April 21 in Annapolis, Maryland on the Severn River.
Georgetown won the JJ Forster Cup for the first time since 2013 after GU's Varsity 8 took first place with a time of 5:42.3. In the race, Georgetown was nearly a length down and through a spirited middle 1000 pulled level and then ahead in the last quarter of the race to win by a length.
Georgetown Men's Co-Captain, Finn Callaghan, said after the race, "The quote of today's Forster Cup perfectly sums up our squad at this moment, 'Never give in, Never, Never, Never, Never.' - Winston Churchill. Through adversity, last minute change, and back to back days of hard racing, the Hoyas did not give in."
