Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Marquette in BIG EAST Action

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team continues BIG EAST play as it hosts Marquette to the Nation's Capital on Saturday. The No. 6/9 Hoyas look for their eighth-straight win of the season while the Golden Eagles try to rebound from a loss in their BIG EAST opener last weekend.
 
On the Air
  • Opening faceoff for Saturday's game is set for 12 p.m. and will be shown on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Jeremy Huber and Earl Brewer calling the action.

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas will honor the 25th anniversary of the 1999 team that made the only NCAA semifinals appearance in program history at halftime.
  • Georgetown (7-2) is coming off a 15-10 road victory at Providence in the BIG EAST opener last weekend.
  • Alexander Vardaro led Georgetown with four goals and two assists while Graham Bundy Jr. added a hat trick with an assist.
  • Bundy's four points gave him 203 for his career, making him just the fourth Hoya in program history to reach 200 career points.
  • Aidan Carroll had two goals and an assist, Patrick Crogan scored twice and TJ Haley scored a goal to go with a team-high three assists.
  • James Ball won 16-of-26 (.615) faceoffs and collected 11 ground balls.
  • Seamus Foley was credited with three caused turnovers and hauled in a pair of ground balls while Banks and Dylan Hess both notched two caused turnovers as well.
  • In goal, Anderson Moore (7-2) had six saves, including five in the third quarter.
  • On the season, Carroll (22G, 10A) and Haley (7G, 25A) lead the Hoyas in scoring with 32 points each while Bundy (20G, 8A) and Vardaro (21G, 7A) both add 28. Joe Cesare has 14 points (9G, 5A), Jordan Wray adds 12 (11G, 1A), Crogan chips in 11 (9G, 2A) and Kade Goldberg has 10 (2G, 8A).
  • At the 'X', Ball has won 114 of 185 (.616) faceoffs to rank ninth nationally and collected 61 ground balls in nine games this season.
  • Defensively, the Blue & Gray have held their opponents to 10 goals or fewer in each of the past seven games.
  • Halpert and Hess have been credited with 10 caused turnovers each while Banks has nine and Foley adds seven.
  • In goal, Moore has a 9.61 goals-against average – 12th best in the NCAA – to go with a .522 save percentage and 92 saves.
Scouting Marquette
  • The Golden Eagles are 4-6 to start the season and 0-1 in league play following a 13-9 loss at St. John's over the weekend.
  • Bobby O'Grady leads MU with 29 points (22G, 7A) while Carsen Brandt (14G, 11A) and Jake Stegman (9G, 16A) both add 25.
  • Defensively, Mason Woodward has been credited with 10 caused turnovers to go with 37 ground balls.
  • In goal, Caleb Creasor has started all 10 games for the Golden Eagles. He has a 10.87 GAA to go with 99 saves and a .492 save percentage this season.
  • On faceoffs, Luke Williams has taken the most attempts, winning 86-of-147 (.585) on the year with 57 ground balls.
Series History
  • Saturday's meeting will be the 14th all-time between the two programs with Georgetown holding an 8-5 series lead.
  • The Hoyas have won the past five meetings, including a thrilling 15-14 overtime win in Milwaukee in 2023.
  • Marquette's last win came 9-8 on the Hilltop in 2019, one of seven games in the all-time series decided by just one goal.
