WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University track & field program competed in two meets this weekend with the Dalton Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia and the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Florida on April 5-6.
Held on the campus of George Mason University, the Dalton Ebanks Invitational saw the Hoyas compete in 14 events, while Georgetown competed in four events at the South Florida Invitational on the campus of the University of South Florida.
ON THE RECORD
"USF provided an opportunity for a small group to take advantage of good weather. I think that was achieved in particular in the 200m. Josh ran a windy 20.76 - his second weekend in a row under 21. I think he'll get a big performance at the distance in the coming weeks. Kudos to Freshman
Abbie Huey running a PB 24.08 and the fastest 200m run by a Hoya in quite some time. Looking forward to the group getting back to work and preparing for bigger things to come later this season." - Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Alton McKenzie
"I thought overall the team competed very well at George Mason. The weather was not conducive to fast times but the effort was there. The whole team was in a big training phase coming off of indoors so they ran on tired legs this weekend. Once they rest up a little they will run very fast soon." - Assistant Coach
Brandon Bonsey
"It was a solid two nights of team racing. The wind and cold really suppressed the absolute performances Friday night but the intensity, competitiveness and teamwork were all on display. Conditions were a bit more favorable Saturday night and the group responded with some quicker times or solid openers after time away from competing. Lots of work to do but lots of lessons and good indicators to take forward." - Assistant Coach
