WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's 10th-ranked men's lacrosse team hosts former ECAC rival and ninth-ranked Penn State in the First Round of the upcoming NCAA Tournament, as announced by the selection committee on Sunday. Coming off of its sixth-straight BIG EAST Championship to earn the BIG EAST's automatic bid, Georgetown is making its 17th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history. The Hoyas reached the semifinals in 1999 and the quarterfinals 11 times including most recently in 2023.
The Hoyas are 12-3 overall and won the BIG EAST tournament title with back-to-back overtime victories over Providence and Villanova.
Georgetown is 10-5 all-time against the Nittany Lions but the two teams haven't played since 2009 when the Hoyas left the ECAC when the BIG EAST began to sponsor men's lacrosse as a league sport in 2010.
