Four of GU's five alums advanced to the next round of their respective events at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the women's 5,000-meter run, All-American Chloe Scrimgeour competed in the first of a two-heat semifinal. The junior ran in the faster of the two heats with the top six from each heat automatically advancing to the finals as well as a quartet of time qualifiers. Scrimgeour clocked 15:47.87, unable to stave off a surging Molly Born of Oklahoma State, to finish 11th in her heat. Scrimgeour narrowly missed out on a time qualifier despite being a faster mark than all six automatic qualifiers from the second heat. Her 11th-place standing held following the second heat.
- In the second heat of the 5,000m, a trio of alums competed in the heat with Emily Infeld, Rachel (Schneider) Smith and Josette (Norris) Andrews all lining up. A slower heat than the first, once the speed picked up late in the race, a clear lead pack had formed. With less than two laps to go, the top six had established themselves with Smith, Andrews and Infeld all among the group. Smith (HOKA / 16:06.92), Andrews (OAC - On Athletics Club / 16:10.23) and Infeld (Nike / 16:11.64) finished third, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the heat to qualify for Monday's final.
- Two weeks after he was crowned the NCAA champion in the men's steeplechase, All-American Parker Stokes competed in the first of a two-heat first round in the event at the Trials. The faster of the two heats, the pack thinned quickly over the roughly two mile race. The top five from each heat as well as the next four best times were set to advance. Stokes came through at 8:33.63 to finish 10th in his heat, the first spot outside of the time qualifiers after the first heat. Upon the completion of the second heat, Stokes' time moved to 18th overall.
- A pair of Hoyas competed in the men's 1,500-meter first round with current Hoya All-American Abel Teffra and former Hoya All-American Jack Salisbury (Empire Elite Track Club). Teffra competed in the final and fastest of the three heats, timing in at 3:44.27, to finish 36th overall. Despite making a move on the bell lap to gain some positioning, Salisbury could not outkick the field, clocking 3:39.92 out of the first heat to finish 33rd overall.
- The first event of the day to feature a Hoya was the women's 800-meter run. Alum Sabrina Southerland (Under Armour), on a track she became familiar with as a graduate student at Oregon, was among the top three through the first lap. She held on for a qualifying spot by finishing among the top six as she ran 2:02.39 to place fourth in the heat and 24th overall, advancing to Sunday's semifinal.
