WASHINGTON – The season opener of the 2024 Georgetown University Field Hockey season was halted because of lightning in the Davidson, North Carolina area on Friday night. Already delayed nearly two hours because of inclement weather, lightning halted the game between host Davidson and the Hoyas at halftime.
Davidson led 5-1 at the break before both teams were sent from the facility. Future consideration if the game will be continued on Saturday or declared a no contest will be announced later.
