WASHINGTON – Women's golf graduate student and co-captain
Megan Gormley was named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday. The recognition comes just a day after the Palos Verdes Estates, California product was the top Hoya finisher at the Cougar Classic, hosted by College of Charleston. The two-day tournament was held on the par-71, 6,269-yard course at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina.
MEGAN GORMLEY (GRADUATE STUDENT / CAPTAIN / PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CALIF.)
- Gormley closed the 54-hole tournament at 10-over 223 (75-73-75) to tie for 57th.
- Gormley tallied a trio of birdies in the final round, totaling a squad-best nine with three apiece in each round.
- On the final day, she managed eight pars for a three-round total of 27, chipping in eight and 11, respectively, in rounds one and two.
- This is the fourth Golfer of the Week honor of Gormley's career and the first of the season for the Blue & Gray.

The Hoyas return to action September 23-24 when they travel to Charlottesville, Virginia for the Cavalier Regional Preview. The two-day tournament, hosted by the University of Virginia, will be held at the Birdwood Golf Course.
