WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team is in Charleston, South Carolina to open the fall season at the 2024 Cougar Classic, hosted by College of Charleston. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held on the par-71, 6,269-yard course at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston. The Hoyas will be one of 17 teams competing in the two-day tournament in the Lowcountry.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The Hoyas open the season returning three student-athletes from the 2023-24 squad that finished as runners-up at the 2024 BIG EAST Championships, just two strokes back from the championship squad from Xavier.
- The top spot in the lineup will be Georgia Ruffolo, who turned in a 73.60 stroke average during the 2023-24 season in 25 rounds played. She was an All-BIG EAST honoree and tied for third at the conference championships. During the season, Ruffolo turned in four rounds of under-par golf while carding three rounds at par.
- Gabriella Eifrig will be in the second spot in the Hoya lineup. The freshman was a three-year captain on the varsity golf team at St. Margaret's Episcopal School where she was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Player of the Year all four years. As a senior, the Newport Beach, California native was the individual Orange Coast League champion.
- In the third spot, Megan Gormley returns for her fifth season as a graduate student. The reigning BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Year, Gormley carded a 73.84 stroke average a season ago. She turned in eight rounds of under-par golf, including four-straight rounds over the final two tournaments of the season with a pair apiece at the Rutgers Invitational and the BIG EAST Championships.
- Competing in the fourth spot will be Catherine Qiu, a local product out of Great Falls, Virginia. A graduate of Langley High School, Qiu took first place at the MAPGA Section Terrapin Open with scores of 73-72 in August 2023. She won the 2023 MAPGA Section Denny McCarthy Invitational in October.
- Rounding out the Hoya lineup will be Charlotte Hillary, a graduate transfer from Northwestern. The product of Englewood, Colorado was a medalist at the 2022 USGA Women's Amateur Qualifier, carding a 4-under 68. She placed second at the 202 Colorado Women's Amateur and finished 10th at the 2021 Colorado Women's Amateur.
HOYAS X THE COUGAR CLASSIC
- This is the first time the Hoyas have returned to the Cougar Classic since the 2019 fall season.
- In its last outing at the Cougar Classic, the Blue & Gray finished 17th with former Hoya Lauren May leading the way at 11-over 227 (71-77-79).
