Georgetown Hosts DePaul for Friday Night Hoops

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will be back in action on Friday, January 17 as the Hoyas host the DePaul University Blue Demons. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Capital One Arena and the game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. The Blue & Gray enters Friday's contest with a 12-5 record overall and a 3-3 mark in league action following a 63-58 loss at St. John's on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • On Tuesday, the Hoyas fell short against the St. John's Red Storm 63-58 at Madison Square Garden. Micah Peavy led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 21 points. Malik Mack and Curtis Williams Jr. rounded out those in double figures with 13 and 11, respectively. Drew Fielder led the team on the glass with 12 rebounds followed by Thomas Sorber with 10 boards.
  • Sorber leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures posting 14.2 ppg, a mark that ranks 15th in the BIG EAST. Peavy chips in 13.8 ppg, followed by Mack (13.6 ppg) and Jayden Epps (13.2 ppg). Georgetown and Marquette are the only two institutions with four players ranking among the top 30 in scoring in conference play.
  • Sorber leads the squad on the glass grabbing 8.6 rpg, which leads the league, followed by Fielder (5.9 rpg) and Peavy (5.1 rpg).
  • Mack paces the offense dishing out 4.7 apg with Peavy behind him at 3.7 apg.
  • Peavy is tied for 20th in the country and ranks second in the BIG EAST in steals per game, picking 2.35 pockets per game.
  • Sorber has five double-doubles to his name, tied for second in the league. The five double-doubles are tied for third nationally among freshmen.
  • Defensively, the team leads the BIG EAST and ranks 12th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (38.2%). The Hoyas are third in the league in steals per game (8.5) and are forcing opponents to commit 14.38 turnovers per game, which ranks third in the conference.
  • In league games, Georgetown is fourth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage, boasting an impressive 46.6% shooting efficiency.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE DEMONS
  • In its most recent outing, DePaul (9-9, 0-7 BE) was on the short end of an overtime thriller to Marquette 85-83 on Tuesday night in Chicago. C.J Gunn led a quintet of Blue Demons in double figures with 21 points followed by Isaiah Rivera with 20 off the bench. Jacob Meyer, Conor Enright and NJ Benson rounded out those in double figures with 12, 11 and 10, respectively. Troy D'Amico led DePaul on the glass with 10 rebounds, while Enright paced the Blue Demon offense with 11 assists, earning him his first career double-double. DePaul shot 51.6% (33-64) from the field, while knocking down 12 shots from behind the arc.
  • Meyer leads the Blue Demons in scoring, averaging 13.9 ppg. Gunn follows up Meyer with 11.2 ppg while Rivera chips in 10.6 ppg to round out the Blue Demons in double figures.
  • Benson leads DePaul on the glass grabbing 5.8 rpg, followed by David Skogman (5.5 rpg).
  • Enright paces the offense, dishing out 6.9 apg, which leads the conference.
  • DePaul is led by Chris Holtmann, who is in his first season at the helm of the Blue Demons.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH DEPAUL
  • Friday night's matchup will be the 51st all-time meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1941-42 season.
