Tinoda Matsatsa Named BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week After Breaking NCAA Record

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the BIG EAST Conference announced that Georgetown University's Tinoda Matsatsa was named the BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Matsatsa broke his own NCAA Indoor Track & Field 1000m record with a time of 2:16.84 at the Nittany Lion Challenge on January 18.

Assistant Coach Brandon Bonsey

"Tinoda is off to an incredible start this indoor season with 2 school records and an NCAA record. He's far ahead of where he was at this time last year. He's a very exciting talent and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes the rest of this season. "
