Lewis Named to Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team, Mack All-BIG EAST Third Team; Hoyas Selected Sixth in Preseason Coaches’ Poll

NEW YORK – Georgetown University's KJ Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Malik Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were selected sixth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the BIG EAST Conference on Tuesday morning. The announcement comes before the BIG EAST Men's and Women's Basketball Media Day at Madison Square Garden.
 
KJ LEWIS | JUNIOR | EL PASO, TEXAS | PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST SECOND TEAM
  • KJ Lewis is coming off a sophomore season at Arizona where he appeared in all 37 games, making six starts.
  • The El Paso, Texas native averaged 10.8 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game in his second season with the Wildcats.
  • Lewis registered career highs in assists (106), blocks (31) and steals (49) while also scoring in double figures 22 times.
  • In the preseason exhibition against George Washington on October 18, Lewis led GU with a contest-best six steals while also chipping in six points, a block and four rebounds.
 
MALIK MACK | JUNIOR | OXON HILL, MD. | PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST THIRD TEAM
  • Malik Mack is coming off a sophomore season where he played in and started 32 games.
  • The Oxon Hill, Maryland native averaged 34.8 minutes, 12.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 35.5% from behind the arc.
  • Mack tallied double digits 21 times in 32 games scoring a career-best 37 against Washington State in the first round of the College Basketball Crown. The sophomore dished out five or more assists 12 times and had 14 games where he drained two or more triples.
  • Mack received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors once last season.
  • In the preseason exhibition against George Washington, Mack totaled 16 points on 5-for-8 (62.5%) shooting from the floor and 5-for-7 (71.4%) from the free throw line. The junior also pulled down four rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded two steals.
 
2025-26 GEORGETOWN HOYAS
  • Georgetown was selected sixth in the preseason coaches' poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season as the leader of the program.
  • With a 16-person roster, the Hoyas welcome six newcomers to the Hilltop to go along with returners Jayden Fort, Mack, Caleb Williams, Julius Halaifonua, Austin Montgomery, Seal Diouf, Hashem Asadallah, Mason Moses, Michael Van Raaphorst and Kayvaun Mulready.
  • Seven out of the 10 returners, excluding Diouf, Fort and Moses, all saw playing time a season ago.
  • Mack leads the returners with 12.9 points per game during his sophomore season and a squad-best 4.3 assists per game.
  • Williams appeared in 29 games for the Hoyas, starting 14 and averaging 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds a game.
  • Mulready appeared in 22 games, averaging 7.8 minutes per game.
  • The Hoyas will look to Julius Halaifonua to make an impact after a shortened freshman campaign after an injury six games into the season. The Hoyas will also look to Diouf and Fort, a pair who redshirted their freshman seasons.
  • The newcomers are highlighted by additions from the transfer portal, including Isaiah Abraham from UConn, DeShawn Harris-Smith from Maryland, Vince Iwuchukwu from St. John's, Lewis from Arizona, Langston Love from Baylor and Jeremiah Williams from Rutgers.
  • The schedule is highlighted by a game against UConn at Capital One Arena scheduled for Saturday, January 17 to be broadcast on FOX.
  • Georgetown opens the season on Monday, November 3 when it welcomes Morgan State to Capital One Arena.
