WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Head Men's Basketball Coach
Ed Cooley participated in the 13th Annual Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation College Season Tip-Off Luncheon on Monday in Baltimore, Maryland. Cooley was one of four current men's and women's basketball coaches who served as panelists at the function while ESPN's Jay Bilas moderated the conversation.
Cooley was one of four current coaches to speak on the panel moderated by Bilas. He was joined on stage by University of Maryland Women's Basketball Head Coach Brenda Frese, LSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Kim Mulkey and University of Virginia Men's Basketball Head Coach Ryan Odom. Also in attendance was Cal Ripken Jr., baseball's Iron Man, who holds the Major League Baseball (MLB) record for consecutive games played with 2,632, starting on May 30, 1982 through September 19, 1998.
The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps to strengthen America's most underserved and distressed communities by supporting and advocating for children, building Youth Development Parks, partnering with law enforcement and youth service agencies, and addressing community needs through its national program initiatives. Founded in 2001, the Foundation is led by former Major League Baseball players, Cal Ripken, Jr. and Bill Ripken, and was named in memory of their father, Cal, Sr. The life lessons of leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, personal responsibility, and a strong work ethic are keys to success for all young people, especially those living in disadvantaged circumstances.
