Dudemaine, Vranizan and Wray Named Men’s Lacrosse Captains for 2026

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne announced the team captains for the 2026 season on Tuesday. Lucas Dudemaine, Joe Vranizan and Jordan Wray were each selected by their teammates to lead the Hoyas for the upcoming campaign.

"I'm very excited that our team has elected Joe, Jordan and Lucas as our 2026 captains," said Warne. "Each of them has grown into this role since they stepped on campus and they all understand how their leadership aligns with our program's standards to help us navigate through the 2026 season."

A senior midfielder from Toronto, Dudemaine was named the Jason "Prof" Decker Unsung Hero for the Hoyas last season. He returned from injury to play the final six games of the season and provided the Hoyas with an offensive spark down the stretch en route to their seventh-straight BIG EAST Championship and an NCAA Quarterfinals appearance. He scored seven goals with six assists in those games, including four goals against Marquette in the BIG EAST Semifinals and two goals with two assists against No. 3 Maryland in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

"It is truly an honour to be elected as captain for the 2026 season," said Dudemaine. "I am grateful for my teammates who have put their trust in the senior class and consider myself lucky to be selected a captain amongst a locker room full of leaders. Coach Warne always says, 'you stand on the shoulders of those who came before you' and I feel blessed to have been led by alumni who have transformed this program to new heights. This year, we will continue to carry on the standard and build toward things that haven't been done."

In his four years on the Hilltop, Vranizan had developed from a recruited attackman to close defenseman before settling in as one of Georgetown's top defensive midfielders. As a senior in 2025, he played in all 17 games and was credited with six caused turnovers to go with 24 ground balls while scoring three goals on the offensive end. With Vranizan on the rope unit, Georgetown has held 24 of their 34 opponents to 10 goals or fewer over the past two seasons and a top-10 defense allowing just 9.12 goals per game in 2025. Named Georgetown's Most Improved Player a year ago, the Portland, Oregon native is one of just two graduate students on the roster.

"Being elected captain for the 2026 season is truly an honor," Vranizan said. "We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, and I plan to represent the leadership of past years to the best of my ability. I'm fortunate enough to have learned from so many great teammates in my time. This year's squad is hungry and wanting to push the standard. Let's get to work. GATA."

A senior midfielder from Marriottsville, Maryland, Wray has played in 50 games during his three years on the Hilltop including started every game as a sophomore and junior. He has tallied 38 goals to go with 12 assists for 50 career points to go with 30 ground balls and four caused turnovers. As a junior, he scored the game-winning goals against Penn and Marquette in the BIG EAST Semifinals. Off the field, Wray has twice been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

"Being voted captain is one of the greatest honors of my time at Georgetown," said Wray. "I'm humbled by my teammates' trust and proud to lead a group that works, cares and competes for each other. Our senior class is full of strong leaders, and I'm grateful to stand alongside them as we guide this team together. Our standard is earned, not given, and representing Georgetown means upholding a tradition bigger than ourselves. I can't wait to help this team be its best."
