WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's basketball freshman
Thomas Sorber was tabbed the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and
Micah Peavy was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The awards come after a 1-1 week for GU that saw the Hoyas fall to Xavier 74-69 before defeating Seton Hall 60-46 on Saturday afternoon. This is the seventh time this season Sorber has garnered BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors.
THOMAS SORBER (FRESHMAN / FORWARD/CENTER / 6-10 / 255 / TRENTON, N.J.)
- Over a pair of games, Sorber averaged 15.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.5 bpg.
- The freshman recorded his eighth double-double on the year with 13 points and a game-best 11 rebounds in a win against Seton Hall. He is the lone leader nationally among freshmen with eight double-doubles to his name.
- At Xavier, the freshman tallied 17 points to go along with three rebounds and a pair each of blocks and assists.
- For the week, the New Jersey native shot 58.3% (14-24) from the field.
- Sorber has earned the recognition for the seventh time this season, previously garnering the honor on February 3, January 27, January 6, December 2, November 25, November 11.
MICAH PEAVY (GRADUATE STUDENT / GUARD/FORWARD / 6-8 / 220 / CIBOLO, TEXAS)
- In a 1-1 week for the Hoyas, Micah Peavy averaged 24.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.0 apg and 2.5 spg.
- In a midweek matchup at Xavier, Peavy matched his career high with 27 points, while dishing out four assists and recording a pair of steals.
- In a win against Seton Hall, the graduate student tallied a game-best 22 points while grabbing seven rebounds and managing three steals.
- Over a pair of games, he shot 53.8% (21-39), including a 4-for-9 performance from beyond the arc.
- This is Peavy's third nod to the honor roll, previously earning the distinction on January 27 and December 2.

Georgetown returns to action on Saturday, February 15 as the Hoyas face Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
