Georgetown Men’s Basketball Hosts Seton Hall on Saturday in Pink Game

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will host the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday, February 8. Tipoff in the District is slated for noon at Capital One Arena and the game will be broadcast on FS1 with Chris Vosters calling the play-by-play and Wesley Matthews providing analysis. Georgetown enters Saturday's contest with a 14-9 record and a 5-7 mark in league action following a 74-69 defeat at Xavier on Tuesday night. Saturday marks GU's Pink Game with the team wearing pink uniforms and shoes to support all those who are currently or have battled cancer.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • On Tuesday evening, Georgetown fell to the Xavier Musketeers 74-69 at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati. Micah Peavy and Thomas Sorber led the way for GU tallying 27 points and 17 points, respectively, Malik Mack chipped in 13 points rounding out the Hoyas in double figures. Drew Fielder led the squad on the glass pulling down six boards while Mack paced the offense with eight helpers in the contest.
  • Peavy leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures posting 14.9 ppg, a mark that is 11th in the BIG EAST. Sorber chips in 14.8 ppg, followed by Mack (13.0 ppg) and Jayden Epps (12.3 ppg). Georgetown, Marquette, and Villanova are the only institutions with four players among the top 30 in scoring in the league.
  • Sorber leads the squad on the glass pulling down 8.6 rpg, which leads the league, followed by Fielder (5.5 rpg) and Peavy (5.3 rpg).
  • Mack paces the offense dishing out 4.7 apg, which ranks seventh in the BE.
  • Peavy ranks 18th in the country and second in the BIG EAST in steals per game, picking 2.3 pockets per game.
  • Sorber has seven double-doubles to his name, which is tied for first in the league along with Zuby Ejiofor (St. John's), RJ Luis Jr. (St. John's) and Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton). The seven double-doubles is tied for first nationally among freshmen with Ace Bailey (Rutgers), outpacing Cooper Flagg (Duke), Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State), Donnie Freeman (Syracuse), Derik Queen (Maryland) and Elijah Price (Fresno State) who each have six.
  • Defensively, the team is second in the league in scoring defense, allowing an average of 65.7 ppg. GU ranks second in the BIG EAST and 35th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (40.3%). The Hoyas are third in the league in steals per game (8.1) and are forcing opponents to commit 13.96 turnovers per game, which ranks fourth in the conference.
  • On Monday, Sorber was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season after averaging 13.5 ppg on 47.8% (11-23) shooting to go along with 7.0 rpg in a 1-1 week for the Blue & Gray.
 
ABOUT THE PIRATES
  • In its most recent outing, Seton Hall (6-17, 1-11 BE) fell to Butler 84-54 on Wednesday evening at Prudential Center. Prince Aligbe led the Pirate offense with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting. Aligbe was the lone Pirate to record double figures. Aligbe and Isaiah Coleman both chipped in six boards apiece. Garwey Dual paced the offense with six helpers. Seton Hall shot 34.4% (22-64) from the field.
  • Coleman leads a duo of Pirates averaging double figures  posting 14.6 ppg, followed by Chaunce Jenkins (11.4 ppg).
  • Coleman leads Seton Hall on the glass pulling down 5.0 rpg, followed by Jenkins (3.9 rpg).
  • Dylan Addae-Wusu paces the offense, dishing out 2.9 apg, followed closely by Dual (2.8 apg).
  • Seton Hall is led by Shaheen Holloway in his third season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH SETON HALL
  • Saturday's matchup will be the second meeting this season and the 122nd all-time meeting between the two institutions dating back to 1909. Georgetown leads 62-59 in the all-time series.
  • The Hoyas defeated Seton in the first meeting of the season 61-60 at Prudential Center. Thomas Sorber led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 19 points followed by Epps (15) and Peavy (10).
  • Head Coach Ed Cooley is 13-14 against Seton Hall in his career and is 4-3 against Shaheen Holloway.
