Owen Carapellotti Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown's Owen Carapellotti was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The award comes after a superb week for the senior that saw him break the program record for career home runs.

Owen Carapellotti | Catcher | Sr. | Canton, Mich.
  • Carapellotti was unbelievable in a 1-3 week for Georgetown, slashing .556/.600/1.389.
  • The senior tallied 10 hits, six runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs. On top of a 1.000 fielding percentage, Carapellotti chipped in one walk and one hit by pitch.
  • In Saturday's game against Butler, Carapellotti set the new program record for career home runs passing Jake Hyde with 49 in his Hoya career. He then smashed his second of the game and 50th of his career later in the contest.
  • This is Carapellotti's first award this season.
