Baseball Travels to UVA for Midweek Showdown

 
WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia to face the Virginia Cavaliers on Tuesday evening. First pitch at Disharoon Park is slated for 6 p.m. on the ACC Network.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (13-26, 2-7 BE) is coming off a 1-2 weekend against the Butler Bulldogs. GU secured a 14-3 win in game one of the series behind 11 strikeouts from JT Raab. GU dropped games two and three 15-11 and 14-10.
  • Owen Carapellotti broke the program record for career home runs on Sunday belting his 49th and 50th homers of his Hoya career. Carapellotti passed Jake Hyde who set the record last season. 
  • Blake Schaaf paces the Hoya offense, slashing .336/.442/.488 on the season. The sophomore is second on the team in doubles (8), is second on the squad in triples (1) and leads the team on the base path with 24 stolen bags on the campaign, a mark that ranks 25th nationally. 
  • Andrew Williams and Raab lead the Hoyas on the mound as Williams boasts a 2-3 record while Raab is 4-1 on the season. In 49.1 innings of action, Williams has posted a 3.83 ERA, while Raab has posted a 3.69 ERA in 53.2 innings of action. Raab leads the squad in strikeouts with 54, a mark that ranks first in the conference, while Williams follows closely behind with 42 to his credit. 
  • Georgetown ranks 11th nationally in stolen bases with 100 on the season. The Blue & Gray ranks top three in the BIG EAST in base on balls (199), sacrifice bunts (29), sacrifice flies (24), shutouts (1), stolen bases (100) and stolen bases per game (2.56). 
 
ABOUT UVA
  • Virginia enters Tuesday's contest with a 20-15 record overall and a 9-9 mark in ACC play. The Cavaliers had their weekend series against Florida State cancelled. In UVA's last game, Liberty got the best of the Cavaliers winning 10-3 on Tuesday, April 15. 
  • Eric Becker leads UVA at the dish slashing .371/.449/.601. Becker leads the squad in hits (53), doubles (16) and RBIs (32). 
  • On the mound, Jay Woolfolk boasts a 2-2 record and a 4.34 ERA in 45.2 innings of action. Woolfolk has allowed 22 earned runs while punching out 55 on the season.
