Charlotte Tomkinson and Tinoda Matsatsa Earn BIG EAST Male and Female Track Athlete of the Week Awards

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the BIG EAST Conference announced that Georgetown University's Tinoda Matsatsa was named BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week and Charlotte Tomkinson was named BIG EAST Female Track Athlete of the Week. Matsatsa shattered his own school record in the men's 800m and placed first overall with a time of 1:45.04 at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida. Tomkinson finished first in the field in the women's 800m at the Ebanks Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia with a time of 2:04.73.

Head Coach Alton McKenzie

"Congrats to Tinoda and Charlotte on the well-deserved recognition for their performances last weekend. Tinoda has continued to rewrite our record books and has opened his outdoor season in spectacular fashion with the fastest time at 800m in the country while breaking his own school record. Charlotte ran with dominance in her season opener as well and certainly has laid the groundwork for what will be an exciting season. Job well done by both and it's a great way to get our outdoor season in full gear with these BIG EAST athlete of the week awards."
