Men’s Lacrosse to Face Villanova in BIG EAST Championship

DENVER – Georgetown University's top-seeded men's lacrosse team looks to win its seventh-straight BIG EAST Championship, presented by JEEP as it takes on second seed Villanova in the title game on Saturday in the Mile High City.

  • Saturday's game is set for a 5 p.m. ET opening faceoff and will be shown on CBS Sports Network with Brent Stover and Evan Washburn calling the action.

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas (10-4) are coming off a 19-8 victory over Marquette in the semifinals on Thursday to advance to their eighth BIG EAST title game in program history. Georgetown is 6-1 all-time with the league trophy on the line.
  • Fulton Bayman led Georgetown (10-4) with three goals and five assists. His five assists are second most for a Georgetown player in a BIG EAST Tournament game while his eight points are fourth-best.
  • Ten other Hoyas scored goals as well, including a career-high four from Lucas Dudemaine.
  • The Hoyas went 18-for-31 at faceoffs (.580) on the day as Wilson Van Buren went 9-for-18, Ross Prince was 5-for-7 and Matthew Riley went 4-for-6. The trio also combined for nine ground balls.
  • Defensively, Charlie McGurrin had two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Seven other Hoyas had lone caused turnovers as well.
  • In goal, Anderson Moore (10-4) collected seven saves in the win while allowing just six goals.
  • On the season, Aidan Carroll leads the Hoyas with 56 points (34G, 22A) while Bayman adds 53 (25G, 28A), Jack Ransom chimes in with 28 (26G, 2A) and Kevin Miller has 26 (17G, 9A), Joe Cesare adds 22 (16G, 6A), Jordan Wray has 17 (10G, 7A), Kade Goldberg has 16 (5G, 11A) and Patrick Crogan adds 10 (6G, 4A).
  • Defensively, Robert Plath has been credited with 26 caused turnovers on the season while Ty Banks has 22 and Seamus Foley has 20. Banks is now eighth all-time in career caused turnovers with 45 in less than two seasons on the Hilltop.
  • Prince has won 98-of-159 (.616) faceoffs on the season to pace the Blue & Gray and has 37 ground balls.
  • In goal, Moore has played all but 28:54 on the year and boasts an 8.87 GAA with a .535 save percentage and 139 saves. 
Scouting Villanova
  • The Wildcats (8-6) are coming off a 16-14 win over third-seeded Providence in the BIG EAST Semifinals on Thursday.
  • Colin Michener leads Villanova with 39 points (25G, 14A) while Matt Licata adds 37 points (26G, 11A).
  • Tyler Sandoval is the top faceoff specialist for the Wildcats, winning 110-of-177 (.621) on the year to go with 41 ground balls.
  • Defensively, Jake Melchionni has been credited with 22 caused turnovers on the year while Beau Kemler has 20.
  • In goal, Denis Fargione has started 11 of 14 games for Villanova, posting a 10.49 GAA to go with a .493 save percentage and 111 saves.
Series History
  • Georgetown and Villanova have played 44 times before with the Hoyas owning a 24-20 series lead.
  • The Blue & Gray has won the last 12 meetings, including a 17-9 win in the Nation's Capital this season.
  • Both teams met in the 2024 BIG EAST Championship game as well with the Hoyas winning 11-10 in overtime.
  • The last Wildcats win was an 17-10 victory in the District in 2017.
