WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on the No. 15 Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday, August 24. Kickoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Thompson Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- After opening the season with a 2-2 draw against Old Dominion, GU took the pitch on Thursday evening to face James Madison. The Blue & Gray stormed to a commanding 4-0 victory behind two goals from Maja Lardner, a goal from Henley Tippins and an own goal on the Dukes.
- Cara Martin earned her first clean sheet of the season against JMU while facing only two shots. Shay Montgomery and Natalie Means both added assists against the Dukes.
- Lardner, the reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, has recorded three goals through two matches and is tied for the conference lead in goals and leads the conference in points.
- The Blue & Gray went 13-4-4 in 2024 with a mark of 8-1-1 in BIG EAST Conference action which was good enough to win the regular season championship. The Hoyas boasted two All-America selections and six All-BIG EAST selections including three major award winners. The Blue & Gray advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 13th consecutive season and advanced to the second round before finishing the season receiving votes in the final poll.
- Georgetown returns 22 players from last season including seven starters from last season.
- Head Coach Dave Nolan enters his 22nd season at the helm of the Hoyas and boasts a 284-96-65 career record. Nolan and staff were named the 2024 BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year for the fifth time dating back to 2007.
ABOUT #15 VIRGINIA TECH
- The Hokies enter the contest with a 3-0 record after securing victories over High Point (2-0), VCU (5-1) and Clemson (4-0).
- Natalie Mitchell paces the Hokie offense with three goals and one assist on the season, good for a team-best seven points.
- In goal, Lauren Hargrove has logged over 260 minutes and has allowed just one goal boasting a 0.34 GAA through three games.
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Georgetown is 3-3-1 all-time against Virginia Tech. The last meeting between the two sides was a 1-0 victory for Georgetown on August 27, 2023.
- Lardner scored an unassisted goal in the 48th minute of the contest that proved to be the winner.
- GU's last victory over the Hokies prior to 2023 was November 11, 2012, as GU won a 3-2 overtime thriller in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
