Hoya Women’s Golf Heads to State College for Nittany Lion Invitational

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team continues the season at the 2025 Nittany Lion Invitational on September 21-22 in Pennsylvania. The 54-hole tournament will be held on the par-72, 6,363-yard Blue Course in State College. Penn State University plays host to the 16-team field.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Carding a 48-over 900 (293-303-304), the Hoyas finished 18th at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston over two days on September 8-9. The 18-team field played the par-71, 6,269-yard course at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston. The trip to the Lowcountry marked the first of a four-tournament fall schedule for the Blue & Gray.
  • Georgia Ruffolo was the top Hoya at the Cougar Classic, tying for 65th after 54 holes.
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Competing in the top spot of the lineup is Ruffolo, who carded an 8-over 221 (73-73-75) over the three-round tournament as the top Hoya on the leaderboard, tying for 65th. For the tournament, she managed four birdies (2/1/1) and 38 pars (12/14/12).
  • Gabriella Eifrig is in the second spot in the lineup. In Charleston to open the season, Eifrig finished at 11-over 224 (70-76-78), to tie for 75th following 54 holes. The sophomore managed a squad-best six birdies (2/2/2) over three rounds to go along with 33 pars (15/10/8).
  • Freshman Sunny Wang will compete in her second tournament on the Hilltop, competing at the third spot in the lineup. In the Lowcountry, Wang closed the three-round tournament at 20-over 233 (77-74-82) to finish 90th. Over two days, she managed a trio of birdies (1/1/1) and 29 pars (10/13/6).
  • Catherine Qiu will make her 2025-26 debut in the fourth spot of the lineup in State College. Qiu finished her freshman season with a 79.59 stroke average from 27 rounds of stroke play. Of 10 available tournaments during her freshman season, Qiu competed in nine and appeared as part of the Hoya lineup in all nine. She finished seventh at the BIG EAST Championship to close the season, carding a 9-over 225.
  • Mimi Burton, a transfer from Notre Dame, will compete in the last spot of the lineup. She did not compete last season for the Fighting Irish, but her freshman campaign saw her record three top-30 individual finishes in the spring and she tied for 13th place at the Glass City Invitational. She closed her freshman season with a 75.4 stroke average.
  • Competing as an individual, Olivia Ty makes her season debut as a sophomore on the Hilltop. In just six rounds played last fall, Ty finished her freshman season with an 82.33 stroke average.
 
HOYAS X NITTANY LION INVITATIONAL
  • This marks a return for the Blue & Gray to the Nittany Lion Invitational for the first time since the 2021-22 season when the Hoyas finished seventh in the 14-team field with a team score of 20-over 884 (300-295-289).
