Field Hockey to Face Sacred Heart and Lock Haven

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team is back in action with a pair of neutral site games in Towson, Maryland over the weekend. The Hoyas face Sacred Heart on Friday, September 5 at noon before taking on Lock Haven on Sunday, September 7 at 3 p.m.
 
Both games will be played at the Towson Field Hockey Complex as part of doubleheaders with the host Tigers. Live stats for both games can be found at www.GUHoyas.com.
 
About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown went 1-1 to open the season behind a 2-1 victory over Davidson and a 3-1 setback to Appalachian State.
  • Sydney Yodh paced the Hoyas with two goals and an assist over the weekend, earning a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts.
  • Izzy Lee added a goal and an assist to begin the year while Elena Perez Alejandro also had an assist.
  • In goal, Ella Fahey and Alex Duff have split halves in each game to start the year.
  • Fahey has a 1.00 goals-against average to go with six saves and a .857 save percentage while Duff has a 3.00 GAA with seven saves and a .700 save percentage.
Scouting Sacred Heart
  • The Pioneers are 0-2 on the year following a 2-1 loss at home against Bucknell and a 2-0 loss at Hofstra to start the season.
  • Lizzie Mendrzycki scored the lone goal for SHU with Blaire Sparks credited with the assist.
  • In the loss to the Pride, Brianna Cooper (0-2) had 11 saves.
  • The two squads last met in 2024 with Sacred Heart winning 2-1 in New Haven, Connecticut.
  • Georgetown's last win against the Pioneers came in 2022 behind a 3-2 victory in the District.
Scouting Lock Haven
  • The Bald Eagles went 0-2 to open the year with a 15-0 loss at No. 11 Syracuse and 5-3 loss at Colgate.
  • Melanie Beall has two goals for LHU while Kendall Siegle has the other. Madison Friend has been credited with an assist as well.
  • In goal, Kelsey Felix has played the lion's share between the pipes, posting an 11.29 GAA to go with 14 saves and a .424 save percentage.
  • Lock Haven faces Towson on Friday before playing the Hoyas.
  • Georgetown defeated the Bald Eagles in 2024, winning 2-1 in Pennsylvania. Colleen Maloney and Yodh both scored in the game while Caroline Suko added an assist. Fahey had three saves in the win.

Following the weekend's action, the Hoyas return to action for a pair of road games in Richmond, facing the host Spiders on Friday, September 12 and VCU on Sunday, September 14.
