Georgetown Women’s Golf Opens Fall Slate at Cougar Classic

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team opens the fall slate at the 2025 Cougar Classic on September 8-9. The 54-hole tournament will be held across two days in Charleston, South Carolina on the par-71, 6,269-yard course at Yeamans Hall Club.

LAST TIME OUT
  • This is the first tournament of the season for the Blue & Gray. The squad returns six from last year's roster while adding a trio of newcomers. A trio of Hoya returners finished among the top 15 at the BIG EAST Championships last fall, including reigning BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Year Georgia Ruffolo (15th) and sophomores Gabriella Eifrig (T5th) and Catherine Qiu (7th).
 
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Ruffolo is the top returner from last year's Hoya squad. Having been named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Year last season and making the All-BIG EAST squad, Ruffolo averaged 74.53 strokes per round having played all 10 tournaments in one of the top two spots in the lineup all season. She recorded a pair of top-three performances for the year and was twice named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week - once in the fall and once in the spring.
  • Gabriella Eifrig finished the year with a 76.93 stroke average per round following 30 rounds of stroke play during her freshman season. She participated in the Hoya lineup for all 10 tournaments of the year, finishing tied for fifth at the BIG EAST Championships at 8-over 224. She was once named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week last spring when she was the top Hoya finisher at the Terps Invitational, recording one of two rounds under par for the season.
  • Sunny Wang is one of a trio of Hoya newcomers. Wang was a standout golfer at Oaks Christian High School where she was the 2023 Marmonte League Co-Champion / MVP and repeated to earn the honor outright in 2024.She was named to the 2021-22 Marmonte League First Team and was a four-time Marmonte League Team Champion with Oaks Christian.
  • Tina Tang is another returner from last year's squad. The junior finished the year with an 80.87 stroke average following 15 rounds of stroke play. She played in five tournaments over the season, appearing in the Hoya lineup once and as an individual for the remaining four.
  • Milla Sagel joins the Hoyas as a transfer from Pepperdine. As a freshman at Pepperdine, she appeared in six tournaments and 16 rounds, totaling a 77.38 stroke average.
 
HOYAS X COUGAR CLASSIC
  • The Hoyas return to the Cougar Classic after opening the 2024-25 season at Yeamans Hall Club a season ago.
  • Last year the squad finished 17th with a score of 62-over 914 (304-305-305). Ruffolo and Eifrig are the only two in the lineup who participated in the fall tournament with Ruffolo finishing tied for 72nd at 14-over 227 and Eifrig's 21-over 234 was good enough for 89th place.
