Georgetown University's men's and women's crew teams participated in racing at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa., on Saturday, October 28.
The Hoya men participated in three races on the day and finished with solid times in each race. Two Georgetown boats entered the Men's Four with Cox race. The 'B' boat finished fifth with a time of 15:01.22 while the 'A' boat finished not far behind in eighth with a time of 15:09.95.
In the College Frosh/Novice Eights race, the Georgetown men again had two top 20 finishes. The 'A' boat placed 10th with a time of 14:14.20 while the 'B' boat placed 16th with a time of 15:21.54. In one of the final events of the day, the Georgetown men's 'A' and 'B' boats placed ninth and 16th in the Championship Eights race with times of 13:30.04 and 14:07.83, respectively.
The Georgetown women had a productive day on Saturday as well. The team placed ninth in the Women's Club Eights race with a time of 15:57.96. The College Frosh/Novice Eights race saw the GU women's 'B' and 'A' boats place eighth and 25th with times of 16:40.20 and 18:15.49, respectively.
Individually, Hilary Gehman finished third in the Heavyweight Singles race.
The Men's and Women's team also rowed at the Princeton Chase Regatta on Sunday, October 29, in Princeton, N.J.
The men's crew team participated in four different events at this regatta. In the Men's Heavyweight Eight, the Hoyas entered three boats: Georgetown's 'A' boat finished sixth with a time of 13:46.10; Georgetown 'B' ended the race in 15th place at 14:23.90; and Georgetown 'C' raced to 18th place with a time of 16:04.00. The Hoyas placed ninth in the Men's Lightweight Four with a time of 16:05.00. In the third event, the Men's Heavyweight Four, Georgetown's 'A' boat achieved ninth place (15:34.72), while the 'B' boat finished in 18th place (17:06.22). In the final men's race, the Lightweight Eight, the Hoyas garnered in sixth place with a time of 13:22.35.
On the women's side, the first event was the Open Eight. Georgetown's 'B' lightweights finished in 30th place with a time of 16:50.00, while the GU 'A' shell followed in 33rd place (17:14.00). The next event for the women was the Open Four, where the Hoyas took 20th place with a time of 18:16.97.
The final event on the day was the Men's and Women's Small Boats, in which Georgetown placed eighth with a time of 17:47.65.
The team will be in action next on Saturday, November 4th in Charlottesville, Virginia.
