Washington, D.C.-- The Georgetown University baseball team has named seniors Mike Green (McLean, Va./Landon School), Eric Sutton (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) and Phil Pierorazio (Scarlesdale, N.Y./Eastchester) as captains for the 2002 spring season.
Green, a second-baseman, led the Hoyas with six sacrifice bunts en route to a .274 (31 for 113) batting average. Sutton, a left-handed pitcher and in-fielder, started a team-high 12 games and struck out 39 batters to record two wins. Pierorazio, an outfielder, played in 23 games for the Hoyas and posted a .912 fielding average.
The Hoyas finished the 2001 season with a 17-39 overall record under third-year head coach Pete Wilk. Georgetown begins its 2002 campaign on February 9, with a double header against William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. at 1 p.m.
