WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Georgetown University assistant baseball coach Michael ?Doc? Beeman has been named the head baseball coach/assistant athletic director at Loyola University New Orleans. Beeman worked at Georgetown University as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
During Beeman?s tenure the Hoyas were successful, as Georgetown?s overall record improved from nine wins in 2002 to 25 in 2004. The Hoyas? ERA dropped from 8.24 in 2002 to 5.64 in 2004 and the opponent?s batting average was lowered from .338 in 2002 to .286 in 2004. In addition, the Hoyas set the single-season program record for strikeouts with 340 in 2004.
Beeman begins at Loyola in August.
