WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Georgetown University head women?s lacrosse coach, Ricky Fried, has named Erin Wellner an assistant coach for the Hoyas. Wellner comes to Georgetown after being an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. At Stevens, Wellner coached the attack, and assisted in recruiting, scouting, and practice and game day preparation. During Wellner?s two seasons Stevens placed in the ECAC tournament were Knickerbocker Conference Champions in 2003 and 2004, and the 2004 season was the best record in Stevens history.
Aside from coaching, Wellner is the Director and Co-founder of Celtic Lacrosse Camps, LLC where she has founded camps and clinics throughout the U.S. and formed the company?s philosophical strategy and mission statement. She is also the Director and owner of New York Lacrosse Academy, located in Long Island New York. In addition, Wellner was the National Women?s Director for Shamrock Lacrosse.
Wellner, a 2002 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, played four seasons (1998-2002) of varsity women?s lacrosse for the Blue Jays. Wellner was a two-time captain, was voted the best offensive player in 2001, and was selected for the 2002 North/South All Star game. In addition, she is third in career assists, holds the single game assist record, and is fifth in career points.
