Leah Warehime of the Georgetown University women's lacrosse team has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. In addition to Warehime's top honor, sophomore attacker
Sophia Loschert was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following a gritty conference road victory for the Blue & Gray.
Warehime was the backbone of the Hoya defense in a high-stakes 9-8 victory over Villanova on Saturday. The Finksburg, Maryland, native recorded eight saves, including several crucial stops in the fourth quarter to preserve a one-goal lead. She finished the day with a .500 save percentage, marking her 11th victory of the season and keeping Georgetown perfect in BIG EAST play. This is Warehime's first Defensive Player of the Week selection of the 2026 campaign.
Loschert fueled the Hoya offense in the narrow road win, leading all Hoya scorers with four points on three goals and one assist against the Wildcats. Her performance was highlighted by two vital man-up goals in the first half and a clutch unassisted tally in the fourth quarter. Loschert has recorded 31 goals on the season.
