BOX SCORE

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown Women?s Field Hockey (2-5-0) lost Sunday afternoon to Yale on Kehoe Field by a score of 2-1.

The Yale Bulldogs took the early lead, after junior Katie Rivkin drove a shot pass Hoya sophomore goalkeeper Abby Winer (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun), at the 20:46 mark in the 1st half.  Nine minutes later the Bulldogs? Rivkin struck again, on a loose ball in front of goal after a Yale corner.  The first half saw Yale control play and contain the Hoyas within their own defensive half, while taking ten shots and earning six corners.

The second half of play was a complete turnaround for the Hoyas, as they came out strong and dominated the offensive play for the majority of the half.  The Hoyas were able to cut the lead with a great unassisted goal by freshman forward Lindsay Fisher (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), at the 46:17 mark.  The Hoyas continued to mount offensive runs, with great work by senior Meghan Leahy (Windham, N.H.) and junior Megan Carroll (Massapequa, N.Y., Massapequa) in the midfield, but were unable to capitalize.  Leahy had five shots on the day, with two shots on goal.

Winer had another great game in goal, only allowing 2 goals on 18 shots, while posting 10 saves for the game.

The Hoyas travel to Lehigh on Sept. 22nd and return home next Sunday to face Lock Haven at noon on Kehoe Field
